It has been a busy and exciting first month of our fraternal
year! We had a great start to the month
by marching in the July 4th parade and singing “God Bless America”
along with about 150 of our fellow parishioners. Several brother knights also helped as
volunteers at the run/walk event that same morning before the parade. Our monthly council meeting was pretty well
attended on July 14 considering the summer vacation, and if you missed it there
are a few highlights that I would emphasize with you. First, we are trying to enhance our
newsletter, website and calendar to keep everyone informed on important
activities, events, and information in a more convenient way. Second, we have some very inspiring lectures
that Mark Zaffrann will be sharing with us each month (see a preview in this
newsletter). Lastly, we have a great
team of officers and directors that are motivated to help our parish, families,
youth, and community. Get involved and
“Pick One” to choose an activity that you want to be a part of in
volunteering. We can only be as
successful as our council membership allows us to be. We had a fun pot-luck dinner as part of our
installation event on July 17, and I think all who attended had a good
time. (Many thanks again to our Past
Grand Knight – Brother Hans Meijer for all his leadership and achievements the
last two years.) At the end of the month
our 4th degree assembly installation will take place and we look
forward to a similar successful evening on July 31.
Closing out this month we look forward to Father Enrique’s
arrival on August 1, and to consult with him on how we can help him in his new
duties. One of our goals this fraternal
year is to reach out to other ministries in the parish so we can join forces
with them to achieve the best results and build lasting partnerships within our
church community. If you haven’t been to
a council meeting or event in a while, we welcome you back and hope you will
join us. We know it will prove to be a
busy and fulfilling year and we need your help!
In this time of uncertainty about the economy, financial difficulties
and personal challenges, we can count on each other. When we reach out to help someone else in
need, our own problems tend to be less daunting than we thought. God Bless all your families and we hope to
hear from you or see you all soon!
